YES on May 13 to Protect Windsor’s Future

On Tuesday, May 13, Windsor voters will vote on the town budget. The Town Council understands that lean years are ahead, but we still need to support our kids and seniors as a community; that’s why it made targeted spending cuts and added no new full-time positions, while avoiding teacher layoffs and expanding tax relief for veterans and low-income seniors. To maintain our quality of life and avoid further cuts, a property tax increase of 4.91% is required—a little over $20 per month for the average household. Windsor’s tax rate will be 28.45 mills, one of the lowest in the region.

If we do not vote YES on May 13, broad-based spending cuts will have to be made. In addition to teacher layoffs that would increase class sizes, cuts have already been proposed to Senior Tax Relief, road paving and pothole repair, public safety, our libraries, and more.

Much like Elon Musk’s federal cuts, those would hurt and disrupt our community, while saving us only a pittance—that’s not the Windsor way. Please join me in voting YES on Tuesday, May 13 to protect what we cherish about our community.
