VOTE YES JUNE 30TH TO PROTECT WINDSOR’S FUTURE

On Tuesday, June 30th, Windsor voters will vote on the town budget. The Town Council understands that lean years are ahead, but we still need to support our kids and seniors as a community; that’s why it made targeted spending cuts in the face of significant Republican opposition – who have called for $4 million in cuts to the board of education alone (this would result in the loss of up to 40 teaching positions). To maintain our quality of life and avoid further cuts, a property tax increase of 1.51% is required—a little over $10 per month for the average household. Windsor’s tax rate will be 28.88 mills, one of the lowest in the region.

If we do not vote YES on June 30th, broad-based spending cuts will have to be made. In addition to teacher layoffs that would increase class sizes, cuts could include Senior tax relief, library services and more.

Those would hurt and disrupt our community, while saving us only a pittance—that’s not the Windsor way. Please join us in voting YES on Tuesday, June 30th to protect what we cherish about our community.
