Who are you?

My husband, Scott and I have been residents of Windsor since 2003 after living in Southern California for almost 15 years.  It has been a wonderful place to raise our two children and become active members of the community.  I have been a proud supporter of Windsor Public Schools and served two years as a member of the Windsor High School Governance Council.  I have also served as the Vice Chair for the Windsor Democratic Town Committee.  My education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Design and Resource Management from the University of Connecticut.  In addition, I am currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree.  Professionally, I am an interior designer as well as a master teaching artist for the Architecture Resource Center.

Why are you running?
I believe Windsor is best served when people from all backgrounds collectively participate in its governance.  My participation offers an opportunity to share ideas and perspectives that are sometimes missing from the debate.  I am running for my second term on the council because I am committed to making our town a welcoming and inclusive community for all who live here.

What do you love about Windsor?
Windsor is a shining example of the magic that happens when people from diverse backgrounds come together, celebrate, and learn from each other.  This community is a like an interwoven fabric of different cultures from all walks of life, races and religions.  Through active participation in town activities, there are endless opportunities to strengthen the bond between residents.  It is this bond between the people and their welcoming attitude to reach out to others different from themselves that I love the most about Windsor.

What do you think the council should focus on over the next 2 years?

Over the next several years, the council will be focused on fiscal matters resulting from the state’s budget crisis.  Managing the impact on our local budget while maintaining public safety and town services on which people depend will be the council’s primary concern.  As part of the democratic leadership, I am committed to maintaining services in a fiscally responsible way.

Why should people vote for you?
To serve the town as a councilor is a great honor and a responsibility I take seriously.  I am not afraid to ask difficult questions and challenge the leadership to consider different points of view.   My love for Windsor and my commitment to its future well being will continue to guide the decisions I make while serving on the council.
