Vote Yes!

Windsor Residents,

I am writing to ask Windsor voters to Vote Yes for our budget on May 12. The budget will ensure the quality of life we have come to expect in Windsor. It is a balancing act to maintain these quality services while keeping our taxes low. This budget accomplishes that. Our police, fire, and safety services help to make Windsor a safe, desirable place to live. My wife and I moved to Windsor in 1984 because of its racial diversity. But we have come to realize that there is diversity not only in its people, but also a diversity in Windsor’s neighborhoods, and in the many activities available to town residents of all ages: after school programs, library services, Senior services, recreational and leisure activities.

Our two daughters were educated in the Windsor Public Schools, and now they both have college degrees. That speaks well to Windsor’s educational system. Academic opportunities continue to broaden in our schools, the most recent being the arrival of the pre-kindergarten program. Advanced Placement classes have been increasing at the high school, along with programs centering on science, technology, math and engineering throughout the school system; all of these programs aimed at preparing our students for the 21st century. And Windsor Public Schools continues to move forward while, at the same time, working to meet the academic challenges connected with closing the achievement gap.

I believe all of these services, town and school, deserve our support. And the budget is the financial driver needed to maintain these services. For these reasons, I ask Windsor voters to vote YES at the budget referendum on May 12th.

Tim Curtis

Chair, Windsor Democratic Town Committee
